Think about it, if I tell someone that,  I cannot function without four shots in the morning and a couple more in the afternoon, if I have a hard day I may take two or three more before bed because it actually helps me sleep, what would their reaction be?  If we were talking shots of vodka here the person I was talking to would have me in AA within three seconds of my finishing that sentence. But it’s espresso we are talking about here, no harm.  The person I am telling this to may just think “dman, this girl is addicted to coffee, no wonder she’s so upbeat,” then smile.

Sure, drinking vodka in excess  far more dangerous than coffee will ever be but my point an addiction is an addiction, no matter what it’s to. And just like in the world of drugs or alcohol there is always that gateway.

This is how addiction works in the worlds of a Starbucks junkie:

First, you start with a gateway drink, something light- like a tall signature hot chocolate, tea, hot or cold,  or a mocha frapacinco.  You’re good with that for a while, then one day you over hear someone over a tall mocha. You ask the barista what that is and when you learn it’s basically hot chocolate with espresso you think, why not?

Next think you know your tall signature hot chocolate became a tall mocha, which later becomes a grande, which later becomes a  quad,  grande, non-fat, no whip, mocha.  At this point you can take two routes, stick with that drink and make it your regular order, or explore the menu once or twice more until you find a drink that gives you the same buzz.

That’s always how it starts. No one wants to become a caffeine junkie, we all think we can stop any time we want — gotta love denial.

Starbucks is back to the white cups

This store only gives sleeves on certain drinks. Others will be given on request.

“I talked to a stranger once for an hour over coffee. We’re not strangers any longer.” How charming is that? Phrases like this on my Starbucks cup makes me smile.

My big thing is always finding the perfect store. And today I found one that makes me warm inside. I am meeting a source at a Starbucks that I’ve never been to for an interview and while I’m waiting for him to show I’m falling in love with the store. They have massive tip jars that made me smile, give ceramic cups to anyone who gets a drink order that’s not to go and the atmosphere is super friendly. The names of their regulars on the tea blend they usually order, so they never run out. Best interview wait ever!

Editor brought in cranberry bliss bars and cut them to make them bite size. I wish it came with coffee.

Apparently Ronald and pals noticed Starbucks goes red in the winter and wanted to do the same. Gotta love it

black eye... or guy, whatever

So I pull up to the Starbucks drive thru by work today, totally embarrassed because I had just tried to open the door even though the store was closed. As I was getting ready for the dirty looks that were bound to come I order a grande black eye, which is coffee with two shots.

The barista says back: grande black guy… I mean eye, you don’t want a black guy

To which I reply, trying to be careful: Yes, a grande black guy… I mean eye, I want a black eye

I pull up to the window laughing my ass off and she hands me my drinks, she’s laughing harder than I am, and says here’s you black…pause…eye.

LOVE IT!

Funny part about Subway and BK selling this brand is that it’s owned by Starbucks! Which makes the ads where they bash Starbucks that much funnier.
